What, may I ask, is a 'Non-computer Consultant' that would ask this?
Here is my story
I am a Structural Engineer that dabbles in Fortran programming. I learned FTN IV in 1967 in college and it has served me well to write a few structural engineering programs like tapered pole analysis and design before I picked up ANSYS and GTSTRUDL. I just know enough about computers to be dangerous and took some classes to be a DEC Ultrix system manager on a MicroVAX mini computer.
I stumbled on this site when I was having trouble booting up my PC which at the time had a RAID mirrored array for a C: drive which was my boot drive. When I chose my name, the Non-computer Consultant was as close as I could come to Structural Engineer who designs transmission poles and towers.
So any ideas on FORTRAN compilers for Win7, and is it referred to as W7, Win7, Windows 7 or what is the correct acronym?

That I bought at Office Depot, which is propped up behind my keyboard at the moment, it says, Windows7.
The 'correct' acronym or initialism is whatever you or I choose, Microsoft be damned.

I read over the page you cited and it is a little technical for me. I may try it because I don't want to pay Intel's price for FTN compiler for the once or twice a year I would use it. Back in the old DOS days, I used to run BAT programs that would compile my FOR code to Object files and then compile that to the EXE that I was after so I am used to the command line interface (if I can remember that far back). I had gotten accustomed to the CVF interface for compiling programs in a windows environment and the GFortran looks like it may use the old command line interface to compile a program.
What I really want/need is a way to compile my old Fortran code to run in Win7 and having a graphic UI might be nice but I could get along without one.
