(Reason #2)
Max Hunter has a problem. Well, two, actually. One he fished out of the river, and the other? . . . A killer.
Mia Roberts has a problem that stands six foot five and swings an axe like a God. On assignment to study the grizzlies of the Alaskan frontier, she stumble...more

“Thor, God of Thunder you may be,” I breathed out, enjoying his lips, “but I’m, I’m Wonder Woman, Queen of Self-control. No way I’ll ever submit to you.”
“We’ll see….”
Mia Roberts
Tricked into going on a research expedition by her boss and ex-lover, Mia sets off on the final frontier. She is not meant for the outdoors, or anything that would challenge her to stay upright. She is a klutz, a vertically challenged woman who has a strong fear of bugs, a big love for bears...more
Well, this was just what I needed! I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and this one was just as good! I was laughing with the humour in this one: had me smiling like a goof half the time.
This story is about Mia Roberts, sexy yet clumsy zoologist who is better off behind the desk analyzing research vs. traipsing through the Alaskan woods. However, circumstances bring her to Trails End, Alaska to continue research on the bears in the area.
Of course, Mia with her clum...more

I really, really enjoyed A Reason To Kill as much as I liked the first book in the series A Reason to Breathe, but there was just something a little bit extra in this one, the author’s sense of humor really shines though. In this book we get a sexy lumberjack alpha male and a klutzy cute bear loving heroine.
Max Hunter is a Lumberjack …yes a LUMBERJACK!!!!. He’s single man who has been hurt in the past and decided it wasn’t in the cards for him to ever really set...more
This one fell a bit short for me. I really enjoyed the first one but something was missing from this one. Got to about 40% and it just started to drag a bit. I sort of guessed who the killer was too.
Will I read more from this author? Definitely. Maybe it was my mood. Another day, I might have liked it better.
Loved the epilogue. And would love a story about Jack.

I’d like to address the adorable “disclaimer” this author added. WARNING: Author believes in soul mates and insta love proceed with caution if you're not a romantic at heart.

I have to say that I had some trepidation going into this book. While I enjoyed the author's previous book, I didn't love it. But like the good friend I am, I caved when my friend demanded I buddy read this with her because 'it sounds amazing!!!!!!!!' (yes, that's a direct quote).
Just as a little recap to my issues with the previous book...while I like some books that do quick love/insta-love/love at first sight, it has to be done right. And the previous book was too quick for me. The main...more
Well, I came back to this book this morning, and unfortunately, I have lost all enthusiasm for it. Which sucks. It had so many funny parts. I guess the event with the waitress killed my enthusiasm. (view spoiler)[Max, Mia and friends are at bar. Max is sitting next to Mia, holding her close (supposedly wanting to spend the rest of his life with her. Annie, the woman he was having sex with for 2 years (and actually had originally planned to take her home the day he met Mia). Obviously, h...more
Loved Thor, God of Thunder Max and Mia. ❤. And Maxine she was a hoot.
Full review to come. :)
Living in Trails End, Alaska, Max has the life he’s always wanted. Running the logging company that belonged to his father and living the in the wilderness of Alaska where life was simple and beautiful. But that scenery just got a little bit prettier and less simple when a certain dark haired beauty shows up.

What a fun read! Not something I would usually say about a murder mystery, but if you take a chance on this one, you will definitely understand where I am coming from. Some of the characters are absolute, well, characters. The dialogue is witty as well. And the murders are actually very well laid out with surprise twists and turns until the true culprit is caught.
Set in Alaska, Mia and a group of her peers are sent to check up on her company's environmental study of bears. Mia is...more

This author borrows some of her style from KA and I do enjoy her characters but she could actually write a really good book if she toned down her attempts to be so humorous and made her characters and their actions more realistic. The heroine's clumsiness was over the top, the old people sex toy sellers were a bit much (but kind of funny) and the bumbling idiots trying to solve the murders were just unbelievable. But the good parts are the hero was hot, Alaska is a great setting a...more
'Why me?'
'Because my lungs locked up when I laid eyes on you, and I didn’t breathe again until I kissed you. You don’t steal air from a drowning man, if you leave I won’t be able to breathe,' he whispered.'
While needing a bit of editing, I still found this an enjoyable read. Written in similar style of Kristen Ashley, the author serves up a steamy romance with many laugh out loud moments. Here you'll find a klutzy, adorable heroine, a big, sexy alpha lumberjack, a cast of quirky, lovable secondary characters, and a fairly easy to solve murder mystery.
All in all, a fun, sexy read! Definitely will try more in this series!
Another fabulous read from this author!
This book was a HOOT! I laughed out loud so many times I was getting odd looks from people on the bus! *lol* I gave this one a slightly lower rating then the first for a couple of reasons.
One, the Annie stuff. It was great to see a hero actually treat an ex with a modicum of respect, as apposed to treating them like crap they want to scrape off the bottom of their shoes, or as nameless faceless whores. That being said, I prefer my angst between a...more

If he was honest, he had a desire for more than just one-night stands here and there. Desires, dreams, whatever the fuck you wanted to call them, but he had them for the right woman to share his life. Unfortunately, he’d yet to meet a woman who stirred his blood enough to care- until today. Fucking hell
3.5+ RATING- I’ve been a fan of C.P Smith since A Reason to Breathe was released earlier in the year. It was a fun debut that showed promise and her follow up novel Restoring Hope (stand-alone) di...more

This book was wonderful, I quickly fell in love with the hilarious characters and über attractive alpha hero, and I can see why this author is often compared to KA. Within a few chapters I was captivated by the characters, but what really sealed the deal for me was that it was set in Alaska...more

Geeky Mia Roberts heads a research mission to the small mountain town of Trails End. She and her team research Grizzly bears. Mia is a clumsy, nerdy t-shirt wearing, huge geeky glasses wearing girl. She hides behind those glasses and is terrible with men. Honestly the geeky cartoon t-shirts got on my last nerve. I don't think I could take another Scooby Do reference either!
Max took over his family's lumber mill business after his father's death. His company employs almost everyone in the small

After reading a couple of really good but very dark, twisted books, I was after something a little more light hearted. Something that wouldn't have my nerves on edge and my stomach in knots and 'C.P Smith's 'A Reason to Kill' fit the bill perfectly.
