Necessity?[edit]
I don't mean to be rude or offensive to anyone, but is a list of playstation games necessary and/or of enough importance to be included in an encyclopedia? I doubt World Book would have anything like this, and if anyone desired to know an exhaustive list of games that badly, then google it.
- Please take a look here, here, and here. This list exists because it is directly associated with the Playstation 1. Ceros 04:14, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Needs[edit]
- More Japan and Europe only titles
- Different Japan and Europe names from US version
- Older PS titles (big box versions, etc)
- Newer PS titles
- Non-game PS discs (demos, instructional discs, image library discs - mostly Japan)
- I can add a lot of demos, but citations might be a problem for some of them. Also, should I follow them with '(demo)'? Govatos (talk) 19:41, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Another column that gives the rating of the game (eg. MA 15+) (the N64 game list has this, why not the PS1?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Binscent (talk • contribs) 13:40, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- What about product numbers? 'SCUS-1234' for example. Has that been excluded for a reason? Govatos (talk) 19:41, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Letter G is missing at all —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.58.177.80 (talk) 21:58, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Also, needs the type of the game (if known), i.e. RPG, sports, strategy, simulation, etc. Bennylin (talk) 06:02, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Broken Links[edit]
I'm currently working on organising the dead links to new or existing articles, and adding some new games along the way. Haoie 01:51, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
- I went and added some more obscure PSX games, like Blast Chamber. There was also ESPN Extreme Games, which I still own, that was a PSX launch title in the big box. I added a note that it was re-released as 1Xtreme for the Greatest Hits version.
- I'm curious what other information you want. Like release dates, genres, etc. I'm still very new to editing Wikipedia pages, but I will do my best to help. --Brandon Myers 20:08, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'll have a look at some of the stuff I've got and cross-reference it with the list here. Anything new I'll add it's been a while though digging up old stuff is tricky.. --RBlowes 20:28, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- I picked this up and did all the numbers and A's. I'm too lazy to do the entire list though Bitplane 03:47, 28 August 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bitplane (talk • contribs)
Duplicates removal[edit]
During an edit sometime in the past week, someone made a mistake where every entry from somewhere in the J section through the bottom of the page was duplicated at the end of the page. Almost as if they copy/pasted the page, and only replaced through half of a J entry.I took out the duplicates after the first Z section, and after the link to the French page. I do not know if there were any new game additions to those later sections or not. If so, I apologize. I wanted to make mention of this because the edit comparison page makes it seem like I took the duplicates out of the first section, and I actually did not. Any changes made to the first section should still be there.--Brandon Myers 21:29, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
List Cleanup.[edit]
I will add a {{clean-list}} template to this list because none of the games are referenced. I will also add a {{listdev}} template. I'm not sure if this list is complete or not, but if anyone can somehow confirm that it is, feel free to take down the {{listdev}} template and add a {{complete-list}} template along with a reference showing that the list is indeed complete. These games are old so most of the references for these games will probably have to come from the Internet Archive. Regardless they still need a reference. Ceros 03:54, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- I found a list of playstation 1 games here that can help in referencing. Ceros 04:42, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Production of PSones have ceased in March 2006 and I haven't heard of anymore games for the PSone being developed or released. Since this article is part of the WikiProject for Computer and Video games, I think now would be a good time to start working on this article to make it look similar to the List of Virtual Boy games. I think the List of Virtual Boy games, since it's a featured list, will be the baseline to use for all lists of console games on Wikipedia. I'm going to start this by implementing a table for this article with a column for Title, Developer, Publisher, and Release Date(s). Ceros 20:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think there's two ways to add referencing for each game the first way is this:
Title | Developer | Publisher | Release dates |
---|---|---|---|
007 Racing — Neoseeker | Eutechnyx | Electronic Arts | November 20, 2000 |
- The second way is this:
Title | Developer | Publisher | Release dates |
---|---|---|---|
007 Racing | Eutechnyx | Electronic Arts | November 20, 2000 |
- I personally like the second way. I think this way it will look far less cluttered. Of course with the second way, each website that is used still has to be cited somewhere in the article. Does anyone know of anymore ways to work with links? Ceros 14:48, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Here's the way I was thinking of earlier to do the referencing.
Title | Developer | Publisher | Release dates |
---|---|---|---|
007 Racing | Eutechnyx | Electronic Arts | November 20, 2000 |
- Basically, there's no space between the game entry and the link. I used the
zero width non-joiner (‌)zero width space () HTML entity. This just leaves the game entry itself and an arrow for the link itself. Reference for each website used will be at the bottom. This is the neatest I can make this list look. If no one objects, then this should be the way all further entries are made.
- Basically, there's no space between the game entry and the link. I used the
- The way to do this for each link is;
[http://www.website.com/ ‌][http://www.website.com/ ] Had to change to using zero width space (). Some browsers rendered ‌ differently. Ceros 01:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I just wanted to point out that this idea would also get rid of the huge reference list that we would have at the bottom of the page if we were to reference each and every game in the list. I think I'll start using this format.. Purkinje90 (talk) 02:20, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
SCEE/SCEI Nitpicking[edit]
Does anybody else think that due to the size restraints of the tables, all instances of 'Sony Computer Entertainment Europe/Inc.' look absolutely awful? I would suggest that these should be changed to SCEE and SCEI respectively, any thoughts? Dragonfly888 16:27, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Release dates[edit]
Please see here for the proper way of listing release dates: Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer and video games/Computer and video games article guidelines#Release dates. You can't use 'in video gaming' links with full dates. --Mika1h 21:28, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Bad Job[edit]
Whoever is doing this list is doing a bad job of it. If you want to add stuff on this list, it has to be this way, here's an example;
U.S = CompanyEurope = CompanyJapan = CompanyDeveloper = <whoever developed the game>Publisher = Whoever published the gameRelease Date -- Zeta26 13:07, August 4 2007 (UTC)

Strikers 1945[edit]
Strikers 1945 should say Japan Only
Strikers 1945 II was released in the US but with the confusingly incorrect title of 'Strikers 1945', so while Japan got both I and II, the US got only II (disguised as I) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.124.70.151 (talk) 08:57, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Descent 2[edit]
both Descent 2 and Descent Maximum are listed, but Descent Maximum is a port of Descent 2 for the playstation so both do not need to be listed —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.124.70.151 (talk) 09:03, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

What this article should look like[edit]
This article needs more information on each game. Please take a look at the 'List of Nintendo 64 games'.I believe this to be a very good list, almost all of the games have links, they have their genre and more importantly have the rating of each game.If possible could this list be transformed into a list similar to the List of Nintendo 64 games? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Binscent (talk • contribs) 13:53, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Agreed, this really does need to be sorted out to look like the List of N64 games. For a start the two tables that are inexplicably separate should be merged into one, and the release dates should be properly sortable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.125.226.91 (talk) 09:59, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Goo! Goo! Soundy[edit]
This game seem to be realeased in Japan only.
I found it on an amazon.com, on the link:http://www.amazon.com/Goo-Soundy-Japanese-Video-Game-Playstation/dp/B002VZB1AU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1266852423&sr=1-1
I didn´t add it to the list. Please someone do.

Number of games[edit]
Article claimed there are 7,198 games for the PS1. The list contains 2,409 entries. Unless someone can come up with the 4,789 missing game titles, I've changed the total count to reflect the number of games listed.118.210.85.239 (talk) 00:52, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Missing Games[edit]

Granstream Saga, Grudge Warriors, Guilty Gear, Gundam Battle Assault, Gundam Battle Assault 2, Gunfighter Legend of Jesse James, Gunship, Goal Storm '97 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.122.9.222 (talk) 05:58, 29 September 2010 (UTC) Oxmo puccino l amour est mort raritan.

This is not true. I personally own and have played the PAL release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.124.145.162 (talk) 14:33, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Where's the title(s) in the MTV Music Generator series? I know its not exactly a game, but I would never look for it under 'List of PlayStation 1 utilities' (which would seem like utilities for the console itself) or 'List of PlayStation 1 software' (which would seem like a PlayStation emulator or the software the PlayStation uses when a disk is not inserted).Might want to update it (for I need sleep and probably won't remember to check back here (like it is for me on most sites..)) 97.115.65.46 (talk) 04:26, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
Dreadful entry of release dates[edit]
Try and sort the titles by release date, and you get an absolute mess of a table. Anything which specifies the region gets sorted alphabetically at the top, then the titles with no entry get sorted alphabetically underneath, then only a handful of titles get sorted correctly right at the bottom. It would be a mammoth task to fix this, so does anyone know if there's a way to rip the info straight from each games individual wiki page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiditm (talk • contribs) 15:50, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
- I've started to convert the release dates to use the vgrelease new template. This should fix the date sorting problem once all of the data is converted to this template (which will take a very long time, but that's probably what we should aim for). Purkinje90 (talk) 02:17, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Super Duper Sumos???[edit]
Super Duper Sumos, there's no such game for the PSX.. or I am wrong? So far I only saw this: http://reviews.cnet.com/legacy-game-platforms/super-duper-sumos-playstation/1707-9882_7-30976715.html --Hydao (talk) 15:26, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- It probably doesn't exist. Perhaps someone thought the cancelled PS2 game would eventually come out and mistakenly thought it would be playable on a PS1? Regardless, I'll be removing that the list until a reliable source can be found that proves that game's existence.Purkinje90 (talk) 00:41, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Final Fantasy Anthology[edit]
ive got the game and dont know wikipedia well but the part numbers are:SLUS-00879GHSLUS-00900GH — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.96.129.246 (talk) 03:43, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
- Are part numbers used anywhere? I haven't seen on them on game pages, they aren't part of the infobox vg template, and I don't think there are any lists that include part numbers as a field. I don't think that this can be added to the list, but please suggest what you had in mind!Purkinje90 (talk) 00:49, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
What title should be listed for games that have different names for each region?[edit]
If a game is released in multiple regions under different titles, what should the title be in the list? So far, if I've run into this issue, I just list the alternate titles (titles other than the NA title) underneath the title. However, this can make the row quite large. Any suggestions? Purkinje90 (talk) 22:32, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Too many #time parserfunctions on one page error[edit]
if you check the HTML source for this page, you will find some errors. in particular, about midway through the page you will find this error Error: Total length format strings #time exceeds 6000
. further down, near the bottom of the page, there is this block of comments from the preprocessor
in particular, note that the 'Post-expand include size' is maxed out. as I see it we have two choices:
- split the page into subpages either by name or by release date
- replace the {{vgrtbl}} template with something that doesn't reformat the date.
since there are fewer than 6000 games, we should be able to get away with simply removing the date reformating. 198.102.153.1 (talk) 00:56, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- If it's split, I could help, but otherwise, I'm avoiding the page due to its length. (See User_talk:Frietjes#List_of_PlayStation_games) The reason for the template is to enable the list to be sorted, (see #Dreadful_entry_of_release_dates,) but we could probably format it by hand, or maybe the template could be substituted or something, though it would be harder to edit after that. (We would have <span>Sort code (<Year><2-digit Month><2-digit Day (if available)>, for a 6-8 digit code)</span>Date in whatever format for different areas..) Also, the template could be used more efficiently, without very much difficulty, by tweaking the parameters, though it probably wouldn't be enough, alone. PC-XT (talk) 05:06, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
- I switched it over to a new stripped down version of vgrtbl, and the new report is
- this is still a resource hog, but it's now within the limits. the new version does not try to reformat the dates, so it is up to editors to use a consistent 'm d, y' or 'd m y' format. Frietjes (talk) 17:44, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
- I agree that it's still probably the best option to simply split the page into two pages. given the lack of release dates for many of the games, a split by name is probably the most straight forward. Frietjes (talk) 18:04, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
- I replaced the {{vgrtbl-no}} template with the standard date format used by tables yyyy-mm-dd (see WP:DATEFORMAT) to fix date parse issues and sorting. Lewis (talk) 15:48, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- this is still a resource hog, but it's now within the limits. the new version does not try to reformat the dates, so it is up to editors to use a consistent 'm d, y' or 'd m y' format. Frietjes (talk) 17:44, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
Dynamically Created List?[edit]
I think it would be worth looking into a dynamically generated version of this list. Right now, release data for a game has to be added to the game's page (if it exists) and this list. This is redundant and error prone. For example, what if the author of a change on the game's page doesn't know that the change should also be reflected on this page (and vice versa)? I'm not suggesting that this list be dynamically generated on every page load, but it could be dynamically updated after a certain period of time or when a change is detected on the release info portion of the game's page. I recognize that one of the shortcomings of this idea is that games that do not have their own page can't be added to the list. This might be good in the end, because it will encourage those who want to add a game to the list to create a stub article for others to contribute to.Please let me know what you think of this idea. Purkinje90 (talk) 07:37, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
Split List By Region?[edit]
For sake of usability, it seems this list might be easier to use if the contents were divided by region. Because a relatively large amount of releases on this system are region-exclusive titles, and the shear number of releases is in the thousands, the current layout seems muddled, and somewhat unclear. I believe division by region would fix this.DaLanimilbus (talk) 18:56, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
In efforts to make this splitting plausible, I am currently attempting to label as many titles as I can with correct region specifications. I'm currently listing them with NA, EU, and JP initials only, in that order. If there is a more proper way to list these regions, inform me and I will attempt to correct myself.
DaLanimilbus (talk) 19:59, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Unreleased Games on list?[edit]
There are several unreleased games on this list such as Cargo! and Wild Wild West. Shouldn't these reside in their own list, or at lest be marked as unreleased?
The following is a list of games on this page that never saw release.
Ainori
Burning Ace
Cargo!
ESPN Great Outdoors Games: Bass Fishing
Wild Wild West

JP column is used inappropriately and need genre column[edit]
The Japan column is used inconsistently in much of the table to list regions of release instead of listing the Japan release date.To be used consistently with the NA and PAL columns, the JP column should only list the JP release date or be left blank.
I would also like to begin filling in a genre column so that users can better sort the very large table. The genre classification would be the same as that of the List_of_Dreamcast_games.Fast.policy (talk) 18:06, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Possible vandalism.[edit]
I've noticed that an IP anon has added several non-existent games to this page over the years.I first noticed his contribution to the PS2 games list, I managed to confirm the game he added didn't exist by emailing the supposed developers. After noticing this I went back through his contributions and noticed he's added many other games to other lists, mostly this one.
A quick Google search will show you that almost all the games he adds aren't mentioned anywhere else on the internet besides Wikipedia and websites copying it. Would there be any way to rollback all of his edits instead of removing them manually? 51.37.56.49 (talk) 21:44, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- The longer they have been in the list, the less likely it can be undone easily. You can try doing undoing them individually, but some will likely need to be removed by hand. Just make sure to use an edit note explaining why for any casual patrollers who don't notice the talk page. -- ferret (talk) 17:27, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
- I removed those games long ago, so that's been addressed. Wizardman 13:20, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
